Pete Fij and Terry Bickers are set to stop off in the Northern town of Guisborough on Thursday 1st February. The Sitting Room are extremely excited to play host to the duo in what’s to be their first live music event of 2018, promising an intimate gig which is sure to firmly cement their place on the Teesside music map.
Singer-songwriter Pete Fij is a former member of bands Polak and Adorable, whilst Bickers has a history with alternative rock group House of Love. Now the pair have joined forces to create their own unique material, which has been described as everything from ‘sweet’, to ‘darkly and poetically beautiful’.
The pair have released two albums using Kickstarter alone, the world’s largest funding platform for creative projects. Their debut album ‘Broken Heart Surgery’ was released in 2014, followed by the release of their critically acclaimed record ‘We Are Millionaires’ in July 2017, with the latter receiving over 10,000 Kickstarter pledges and rave reviews throughout the UK.
Critics have compared the two of a kind to such greats as Johnny Cash, The Velvet Underground and Simon & Garfunkel. With Bickers’ gentle acoustic strums and electric licks, all wrapped up in lush melodies which are accompanied beautifully by Pete Fij’s worn out yet soothing tone; the pair are a force to be reckoned with. If you’ve not yet heard it – give it a listen – it’s pretty special.
“Minor Key, acoustic introspection done so beautifully it’s as if they’re singing to one another in the dustlight of a pub back room.” – MOJO.
Pete Fij and Terry Bickers will be at The Sitting Room, Guisborough on Thursday 1st February. Tickets, priced at £8.80 including booking fee, are available from wegottickets.com.
